History

International Symposium on Non-Thermal/Thermal Plasma for Pollution Control Technology and Sustainable Energy covers fundamental studies including atmospheric discharge phenomena and its modeling and diagnostics, and the applications of non-thermal and thermal plasma technologies in the gaseous pollutants control, water treatment, solid waste treatments, hazardous material treatment, fuel reforming, plasma assisted combustion, bio-decontamination and medical applications, and agriculture applications.

It is intended as an interactive platform enabling researchers of different backgrounds (chemistry, physics, engineering, material sciences, biology, medicine, agriculture, food technology) to meet and develop new ideas in a widely interdisciplinary field of plasma chemistry. It also promotes the transfer of scientific knowledge to industrial practice and the development of value chains for the implementation of scientific results in mass production.

Historically the first symposium was held in 1992 in Cambridge, UK. In the following years it was organized in various countries around the world, including twice in France, Brazil and South Korea. The last ISNTP-13 was held in Gangneung, South Korea, here. The upcoming fourteenth symposium (ISNTP-14) will be held in a very central Europe - Bratislava, Slovakia.
